Gustav Balderdash – Series 09.02:
Gustav Balderdash in his spare time, is an illustrator and graphic designer.
He produces personal work fusing hand drawn Illustration aesthetic qualities with digital techniques.
“I have had the need to draw ever since I was much smaller than I am today. Thankfully I was always encouraged to do so, and over time it became clear that drawing was what I wanted to do when I grew up.”
“Upwards I grew, I found myself in Southampton, surrounded by a group of creatively minded people. Competing with them drove me to evolve, exploring many new creative avenues. I enjoy working on corporate identity design and branding in print and digital media, but in order to escape the screen, I like to get more hands-on when producing my own personal work with glue, scissors, pens and paper.”
“I spent some time in New York, at a post-production studio, which opened my eyes to other areas and mediums of the creative industry that I now really enjoy using, such as motion graphics.”
“I returned from New York with a creative kick up the arse, and the idea of a small creative collective started to brew between my close creative friends and I. On the 26th of October 2006, theundergrowth.co.uk was launched as a small online portfolio for this group.”
“I am currently working freelance, actively seeking new challenges for myself.”
