April 2008

Hello again, I hope you’re all fantastic. Welcome to April’s Bean Bulletin which as always lets you know what we at Mozzo have been up to plus a few other interesting bits and pieces.

Also… if you (and you should) accompany your reading with the tune from ‘Get your ears round this’ (below), you will get an idea why some are starting to call it the Bean Bulletino.

You do run run run…

Well I do! In between deliveries, sales visits and drinking coffee, I’ve been training up for the London marathon. That’s right… on Sunday 13th April 2008 I’ll be gracing the streets of London in the hope of raising as many beans (money) as possible for the Cancer Buddies Network.

So… if you have a few pennies to spare, please sponsor me and if you’re free on the day, why not come and watch me suffer. Sponsor Mozzoman

Alternatively, why not teach yourself The Running man

Cup a load of this…

Earlier on this year we launched our Mozzo bio-degradable cups. Unlike your regular takeaway cups, ours are lined with bio-plastics made from plant extracts, meaning that even if you don’t throw them away, they will (eventually) throw themselves away.

Over 20,000 of them have been used so far so definitely a step in the right direction!

Spreading the Mozzo Magic…

While you have all been munching away on your Easter Eggs and trying to make sense of the strange weather, we’ve been continuing our Mozzo crusade adding a couple more places where you can now find the magic Mozzo beans:

Megan’s deli…

An awesome cafe-deli-restaurant with a gorgeous little secret garden on the King’s Road Chelsea (selling Mozzo retail on the shelves). View more info.

Monks Yard…

Housed in a former 12th century monastery and 16th century dairy farm, Monk’s Yard is now a stunning community focused hospitality and business hub in Ilminster, Somerset. View more info.

Quay Arts…

Isle of Wight’s leading art gallery and venue for live arts events is now introducing the coffee drinkers of the Isle of Wight to the magic Mozzo beans. View more info.

Rock the boat baby…

On Saturday 29th March, Antosh and Stretch (with a couple of little helpers) were down at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith for a bit of Mozzo sampling during the Boat Race.

Although it was a slow and wet start, once they moved the operation inside, away from the pouring rain and gale force winds, things really picked up and the boys went on to finish strongly serving up over 300 coffees!

Coffee tips and tricks…

Following on from last month’s gardening related piece, we have another nugget for all you green fingered coffee drinkers.

As well as being a natural pesticide, coffee grounds also make fantastic compost due to their ratios of carbon to nitrogen and because of their ability to absorb and hold moisture… critical to any compost pile.

But careful now… don’t go putting them in your household pots, their salt level is a little bit too high (as if you would!) View more info.

Rise of the machines…

No don’t worry, I’m not talking about Terminators, I’m talking about La Spaziale Espresso machines.

Last month I had the pleasure of visiting their wonderful factory in Bologna, Italy and got to witness firsthand how all of these remarkable machines are made from start to finish by just one person!
